When I was 16 I did a foreign exchange program to India. I learned so many amazing things. And one of the things that dramatically changed my life was what I noticed about the treatment of women in India. I myself had suffered quite a bit of abuse, but it was nothing in comparison to what was considered acceptable and even normal in India. I was horrified and determined that I was going to change the way women are treated around the world.
The most fundamental step to Empowering Women is to make sure we all get good educations, so I started working with a school in India that was determined to educate girls.
And as I grew older I realized that it was money that gave women the most choices in life, and the lack of it kept us trapped… Trapped by men, trapped by marriage, trapped by societal expectations. Money gives us the freedom to make choices that serve us, rather than choices for survival. The freedom to choose who we marry, what jobs we take, where we live, whether we want children or not, whether we can or will pursue justice against abuse, and so much more.
That’s why I am so determined to empower as many women as possible to create wealth in a way that gives them the freedom they deserve and also supports their right to joy. That’s what BLISSFUL WEALTH is all about.
